Awesome Things Happening in this Area!

Dear Friends and Family,

We had a great week! During the month of December we met a lady named Karen while tracting. We sang Silent Night to her and shared "He is the Gift" with her. She loved it, and thanked us for bringing some happiness. This past week we went to visit her. She was so excited to see us. We got to know her more. She has Leukemia, but she is grateful for her challenges and trials because she feels that it has brought her closer to God. We shared the message of the Restoration with her. The Spirit was so strong in that lesson! We gave her a copy of The Book of Mormon. I have never seen anybody so excited to accept it before! She then asked us if we could go visit her mom. We went and visited with her mom, who was also very receptive to our message. The Lord knows His children. I have never been more sure of that in my life.

We went over to a member's home for dinner on Thursday night. We were going to share a family mission plan with them. Just as we were about to share a message with them their father came to visit. He is not a member. Sister Smith and I decided it might be kind of weird to share a family mission plan at that time. We went into the other room to grab our Bible so we could share a scripture from Matthew 14. As we looked in our bags we both had left our Quads in the car (which never happens) We only had The Book of Mormon. We quickly chose a scripture we could read to them. This was kind of nerve racking because we had prepared to share the family mission plan with them. As we opened up The Book of Mormon, instantly their father had questions about what it was. So we explained the history of The Book of Mormon and shared the scriptures about when Christ comes to the Americas. After we left their house we reflected on everything that had happened. We realized that everything happened exactly how Heavenly Father had intended, we just had to trust in Him.

On Friday and Saturday we had exchanges. I stayed in my area with Sister Robertson. We had an appointment set up to see our investigator Lamon. We had a member with us who will be leaving for her mission in a couple of weeks. We knocked on Lamon's door and nobody answered. We then called him to see where he was. His phone had been disconnected. I was pretty discouraged. Especially the fact that we had a member with us and the appointment fell through. So, we decided to go follow up with a guy we had met a while ago. As we opened the door to his apartment complex our investigator Alex was right in the door way. He thought we were there to visit him so he invited us into his apartment. I was so shocked that was happening because Alex has been a night mare to get a hold of. It was the craziest feeling to be sitting in his apartment unplanned. We shared a message with him and set up a return appointment. It was so cool to see that we needed to be there at that specific time! We have knocked on Alex's door several times before but he ignores us. It was such a tender mercy he was home and outside of his apartment. AND we had a female with us so we could go inside of his apartment.

There are some really awesome things happening in this area. I couldn't be happier!

I know that this is the work of the Lord!

I love you all.

Love, Sister Furniss
