I was able to experience my first Midwest tornado on Tuesday! All day Tuesday was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky. It was about 80 degrees, which is really unusual for March of course. Then, around 7:30 it started to get really cloudy all of a sudden. There was a lot of lightning in the distance, and it rolled in pretty quickly. We had an appointment in Riverton, which is about 10 miles outside of Springfield. As we were there we could hear the sirens from Springfield going off. The news said that a tornado had touched down in Springfield, and it was heading towards us. Then, just a few minutes later the sirens in Riverton went off, so we went down into the storm cellar. Nothing too extreme happened though thank goodness! It definitely got my adrenaline running though. For anyone who knows know I hate lightning. Just imagine that with a tornado. Hilarious right?? I'm getting better though.

The whole time I have been serving here in Springfield we have been praying and trying to figure out how to get the work going in one of the towns we cover, Lincoln. It is a decent sized town that used to have a branch, but the branch was dissolved because there was so much anti feelings in the community unfortunately. We have been working there and this past week we felt prompted to visit a lady who lives there who we thought was less active. We met with her and we found out that she was just attending the other ward because of the time. But, she is coming to our ward now. She is a returned missionary and really wants to help us out in Lincoln! Right now she is the only active member of the church there, and it is about an hour away from the church building. We talked about different things that we can do to get the work going there! It was such a miracle and an answer to our prayers!!

I am so grateful for this Easter week that we have to reflect on the Resurrection of our Savior! I am so thankful for all that is possible because He lives!!

I love you all!!

Sister Furniss
